Kinds Villa Bintang Resort at Nusa Dua, Bali

While we mainly aim this article at visitors to our part of the world in Bali, Indonesia, you can apply a lot of the advice to holidays anywhere in the world.
One of the great attractions of bali is that it is cheap. The Tourism Authority of bali can carry on pushing their vision of bali as a millionaire’s playground for as long as they want but still the majority of visitors will be people who have a limited budget.p>
Its simple tips to help you make your money go further. We are not talking about the sort of penny-pinching measures that backpackers use to make their tiny budget stretch a year. We are not going to suggest you eat noodles every day. After all, you are on holiday and holidays are meant to be enjoyed. However, most people have worked hard for their two-week holiday in the land of smiles and there is no reason why they should not get the best from their money. Here are a few simple tips to make the money go a bit further.
Accommodation
If you want budget accommodation then usually you can find good deals just by walking in off the street. Walk around the side streets of any of Kuta’s beach resorts and you will find guesthouses. During peak high-season (Xmas & January) it is better to book in advance as there may not be any rooms available. Whatever you do, do not ask a tuk-tuk driver for a recommendation. They will just take you somewhere that pays them commission.
If you want mid to high range accommodation then you should book in advance. If you walk in off the street, you will pay more for your room. It may seem strange but it is cheaper to book in advance through a travel agent or internet-booking site. The internet booking sites have the best rates. An excellent tool for finding the best rates is Get Bali villas. This Bali based website does a price comparison across 30 internet-booking sites and finds the cheapest available offline rates.
Money Exchange
Do not change money in your home country before coming to Bali. You will get a much better rate of exchange in Bali. Bring an ATM card or travelers cheques. In fact, it is nice to have two sources of money in case of problems so why not bring both.
Do not exchange your money at hotels. They give bad rates. Exchange booths at airports also give poor rates. The best way to get money when you first arrive is to use an ATM at the airport
Tours
The tour prices in Kuta are generally very competitive. These organised tours are a convenient and reasonably priced way to see Kuta’s tourist attractions. There are many tour shops and lots of tours so the competition keeps the prices down. Just go to any tour shop and you are likely to find some good deals.
The only problem with booking tours is you do not know the quality of the tour service. The price may be competitive but if the experience is poor then you will still be disappointed. Most of the tour organisers provide a good service but there are also a few stinkers.
Tipping
Tipping was never really a part of Bali culture. It is a custom that we visiting westerners have introduced and which Bali customers have now taken up. Most western visitors over-tip.
The normal tip in Bali at restaurants or bars is USD 1. That may seem like a derisory sum to leave by western standards but in Bali they do not expect any more. You are not being tightfisted by leaving so little. In fact, some claim that westerners who come here and tip big are actually causing problems for everybody else. They are creating an expectancy of big tips from westerners that never used to exist.

Help answer the question about Bali Hotel
Do you think it's a good idea to build a hotel-casino-golfcourse in Bali?I've heard that Bali has recovered very well eversince the bombing, and the area is doing very well. But do you think a hotel-casino with golf course and theme park would be overkill or is it something that tourists would want?
Although a mega project, it's estimated to cost a mere 180 million US dollars. Should I invest my time & effort to find investors? Any idea where or how I would go about finding investors? (other than Donald Trump!)
Thanks for the responses, but looks like I have to clarify something. I am NOT an investor. My question is, should I spend time & effort to LOOK FOR investors for this project? Thought I'd get a feel of how people feel about Bali, and whether they would go there a few years later for casino, golf, and other entertainment. And yes, of course there will be a spa — what resort in Bali does not have a spa?!?! What mega hotel does not have a spa?!?

Halo..
Hard Rock Hotel, Kuta do provide all that you are looking for.. ![]()
Another Hotel in Kuta that you could try in Kuta is Discovery Karitka Plaza.. Located next to Discovery shopping mall..
You could also try Alum KulKul, Kuta.. Located nearer to Legian @ the end of Jalan Patai Kuta..
Another Hotel would be Kuta Seaview.. Located just next to Mercure, Kuta which also could meet your requirements..
I guess it depends on what you want out of a beach if you want to sit and enjoy the veiw Sanur is great, but not so good for swimming as it's very shallow. Tuban is nice too. It's only 5 minutes from the airport. For Ubud, there's a nice place called Komaneka. it's not too crowded there. You can actually google it or check out these website ..

Casino in Bali is an interesting idea since i havent found any casino in Bali, and if you can build great hotel-casino, it will attrack many tourist since its difficult to find casino in Indonesia. Golfcourse..? not sure since there are some good golfcourse in Bali. Please consider about the law and the local culture, it will be one of some barriers to build casino. But its wreally a great idea! more suitable if you combine with your 2nd choice : hotel-casino-themepark. There are big chance to offer to many local Indonesia Investor which considerably rich to guarantee financially
this depends on what town you want to stay in. In Ubud and Nusa Dua you will probably want the Four Seasons. Its great in both places and they will move your entire room for you and set it up exactly the same if you decide to move from one to the other. They go in your room and take photos of everything and move the whole thing. They even put your tooth brush in the exact same position. Amazing.
But… you have lots of choices for top quality hotels in bali.
the Amandari in Ubud is fabulous. and there is a cool little 4 star tucked between the 4 seasons and the Amandari called The Sayan Terrace Resort that is pretty amazing. Its cost is less than 1/3 of the bigger places and its really nice. We are talking about $150 a night vs. $450+ at the 4 seasons and Amandari.
The Oberoi in the Kuta,Legian Seminyak is probably one of the best hotels in the world.
You just have to decide where you want to be and you will have a ball.
I do a cheat sheet for Bali for those who want to go in a more budget type style. Let me know if you would like a copy and I will email it to you. Have fun.
it depends on your budget…price can range from 15usd to 150+usd in san ur. I stayed at a place in kuta b/c it has access to everything. It was 25usd/night for 2 single beds (or one king size). Included breakfast. Note i heard that all hotels in bali has garden/pool view. And Bali is SERVICE driven place so no matter where you end up, the services will be great…the locals can be so helpful that it's kind scary.
You can arrange for a place at the airport after you check out your bags, etc. My advise is know which part of bali you want to stay and when you get there, talk to the ppl at the airport to arrange a place. Good luck and have fun!
try this one:
Hotel Bunga Permai
Jl. Raya Kedewataan - Ubud
E-mail : bungaprm@indo.com
the price around US$21-30/night
a very nice place indeed….

If you have been to Bali, you know that everything is negotiable. You can bargain for prices at just about every hotel.
I was just there for almost 3 weeks last month and it was pretty empty there. Most hotels were practically begging for guests. And there are great places to stay in every price range.
I stayed at a beautiful, clean homestay in Ubud for $10US a night. And I stayed at the Le Meridien for $100US a night (which was a steep discount from their regular prices.)
