I thought you could, why can't you? google even tells you to make a blog with blogger or a site with google site and put your ads there, I did.
You should read the help and documentation on sites.google.com. It's ok for making widgets but not the best.

Your question isn't clear.
Are you trying to get you site rank on Google, and when you search for your site in google, it only shows you sub page?
If that's what you asking is then that means that Google's bot been on your site when you removed the homepage. No matter what you do, it won't change till it Visits your site again. You can look at the date of its visit by clicking Cached.

Click edit page and on the left hand side click insert, then scroll down
and you'll find more gadgets. Click on that. Then search for the game you want (for e.g. pacman) and then click add gadget.

is your friend typing in .ca after google? Google for me won't work unless is has that at the end instead of .com
